As a kid, I didn't love reading. In fact, I despised it through out elementary school. I tried to read a lot of books from,A Series of Unfortunate Events, but they didn't really satisfy my cravings. Elementary, and 6th grade. I didn't have a wide variety of books to choose from. Surprisingly, in elementary, and middle school I would be the kid with the highest reading level, and I would get sophisticated high school books to read from. The book that stood out to me the most was Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I loved this book, because this ignited my love for the romance genre. Mr. Darcy, and Elizabeth's relationship was quite complicated, but somehow I understood this tangled plot. It was the first classic book I've ever read, and I understood it. I embarked on my journey of reading from here.
As a reader now, I still enjoy the romance genre. I'm also a Harry Potter fan, none the less, even though I don't really read fantasy as much. I read everyday, and I plow through about 1 to 2 books everyday. I like being an avid reading, and improving my vocabulary along the way. Also, I tend to lean toward realistic fiction more, because its more relatable, and more of a down to earth sort of genre. Life is a journey, and you cant get stuck in one fictional world, so that's why instead I reach for more realistic fiction books. I also like a lot of mystery/horror books. I like being thrilled, and kept on edge sometimes. You need a little scare once in a while to get moving with life. My favorite book for now is, Roommates. It is such a well written, and well crafted book. Its about the love of two young college students, who embark on the journey of their life, and end up getting married. It shows genuine affection of two totally different people, that end up being in love, and spend their lives together in bliss.
My goal for this year, is to be wise about which books I choose. I've usually followed the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover". In reality, you do you. I've given way too many chances to books with not so great covers, and they don't turn out so great. a book with a great cover just excites me to read, and keeps me thrilled. I would also like to venture out on the classical genre. Pride and Prejudice, is my all time favorite classical book, but I cant say the same for other books. I would also like to read the book The Cursed Child by J.K Rowling. As I am a Harry Potter fan, I want to read this new book! I'm so excited to read this year, and continue growing as a reader.
